ST. LOUIS JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOUNDED 1960
MISSION STATEMENT

The St. Louis Junior Football League is a registered non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers in the Metropolitan St. Louis area. It was founded in 1960 with the purpose of giving children between the ages of 7 and 14 the opportunity to play organized tackle football.

There are over a dozen individual area groups (neighborhoods) who all come together under the umbrella of the St. Louis Junior Football League. These areas meet individually and as a group to make rules and coordinate their individual effort into one local group.  This allows them to have inter-area games and activities with over 3,000 youngsters in the metro area participating.

Representatives of these areas elect nine individuals, known as the Board of Directors, who are responsible for coordinating all inter-area functions and enforcing their rules.  There have been many refinements in this program since 1960 and with the assistance of all players, parents, coaches, governing bodies, and other volunteers, this program will continue to function and grow, giving many youngsters the opportunity to learn, progress and be a part of the entire metro area while also having fun.

The St. Louis Junior Football League (JFL) is committed to the concept of providing and demonstrating leadership for all area organizations within the St. Louis JFL structure which is consistent with the purpose of this League. The St. Louis JFL is a racially integrated program.  This fact is one of the most significant assets of the League in that it provides young boys and girls the opportunity to meet, compete against and most importantly, get along with other boys and girls of all races.
